The Pastor's Pen!

Happy Thanksgiving! As you read this newsletter, I am finishing up a 6-Week Sabbatical. I have been away from Church for the last 4 weeks; No Preaching, No Singing, No Talking. Sometimes, it’s so Quiet, I couldn’t even hear God. But I have learned:
God is Always There, whether I can Hear Him or not, whether I can See Him or not, whether I can Feel Him or not, He is Always there, walking beside me, watching over me.
God Calms the Storm. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a physical Storm, or an emotional Storm, He’s always says the same words, “Peace, be Still.”
God’s Not Finished with me. I do not know whether my voice will return to its former strength or not. I Believe He will Heal me. God is not through with me, He has not called me home. I may not Preach, I may never Sing again (out loud), but God has put a song in my heart that the devil cannot silence. “I am Redeemed”, by the Blood of the Lamb & “Jesus Saves!”
God is Still God, He’s never Changed. He is Still on His Throne, He is Still in Control! Nothing’s Changed! It doesn’t matter what happens to me, God is Still God & God is Still Good!
I do not know where this will end up, I’m just following God. But I am very Thankful. I am Thankful that God Never Changes, I am Saved & I will Triumph through Christ. I am Thankful for the Simplicity of the Gospel, for the Sufficiency of God & Salvation comes only through Jesus. I am also Thankful for a Church that Loves Jesus & loves their Pastor enough to let him take a Sabbatical in order to rest his body & heal his voice.
Thank God for You! And Thank You! Phil 1:3

    Carol's Notes

Let me begin the thanksgiving season by saying a special thank you to all who made my late-October birthday so special. I received text messages, Facebook messages, phone calls and many special cards. I enjoyed lots of good birthday lunches with friends and family, many special gifts and a shopping spree funded by my hubby. What a special way to end those days of celebrating by once again singing with “Broken”. All of this made it a little easier to add another candle to the cake (yes, I had the fire department standing by!)
Almost six weeks ago the calendar told us it was fall but the cooler weather was a little slow in coming. I think the calendar and the weather have now come together and the feel of cooler days and crispness in the night air has finally arrived.
My hummingbird feeders have been put away, Smokey’s doghouse has been moved to its winter location (where he can enjoy more warmth from the sun) and the fading flowers of summer have been replaced with colorful mums and pumpkins to welcome the fall season. Of course, fall planting would not be complete without pansies whose velvet-looking flowers will bloom and sustain all through the winter and into next spring.
Bill might need to mow one more time but we’ll be dealing with leaf removal for weeks to come!
Just as we have to do some fall cleanup in our yards, I recently read about a spiritual shaping up for fall. This program sounds practical for all of us for fall or any time of year. Here’s the 7-day program:

As we approach the Thanksgiving season and our thoughts turn to time with family gathered around tables of scrumptious food, let’s remember to take time to count our blessings, even naming them out loud. I think we would all find our blessings list to be quite lengthy and, as Day 1 of the program reminds us, our “helpings” have been more than generous.
Happy Thanksgiving to each of you and as always,…………KEEP SINGING!

Carol

P.S. What do you call an apple that plays a trumpet? A tooty-fruity!
