From the Pastor’s Desk!

We have been studying the OT book of Daniel on Sunday evenings. Daniel was a man of Purpose, Prayer & Prophecy. Daniel Purposed in his heart to seek God, so God spoke Prophecy through Daniel. But Daniel was also a man of Prayer; his Prayer Life was what got him thrown into the lion’s den, & in chapter 9, Daniel Prays for the nation of Israel. Daniel confesses his sins; then confesses the sins of Israel. Israel had forsaken God’s covenant, they disobeyed God’s laws, so God sent them into Exile.
God said, If My people who are called by My Name will Humble themselves, and Pray and Seek My face, and Turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will Forgive their sin and Heal their land.” Jesus said, “My house shall be called a House of Prayer.” We Should Pray!
As Christians, We Need to Pray! As a Church, We Need to Pray! As a Country, the United States of America, One Nation under God, We Need to Pray! We are at a very critical point in our Nation; the Spiritual Health of our Nation is declining, Biblical Principles upon which our Nation was founded are being neglected & our Leaders are Failing, turning away from God. The most important thing we can do right now is Pray! We Need to Pray for our Church, for our Community & for our Country. For the next 31 days, try not get caught up in the rhetoric of the media, but Commit to Praying; Pray every day for the next month, just prior to the November Elections. Don’t ask God to Bless our Nation unless you’re willing to Pray for it. Prayer starts with His People, His Church! Let the Church Pray!

    Carol's Notes

Can you believe 3⁄4 of the year is behind us – how time flies when you’re having fun (or when you’re getting older which we won’t talk about since I soon will have one of those dreaded birthdays that ends with a zero)! When we flip that calendar page to October, our football teams will be into their conference games, autumn will officially be here and our weather will soon have that cool, crisp, invigorating feel. One of the most beautiful changes fall brings is the brilliant colors of the changing leaves.
There was a hit song in 1966 that included the words “if you color my world, just paint it with your love”. This month we’re going to see God paint a beautiful fall canvas all around us. As we enjoy the richness of the fall colors, is there something we can learn from them to enrich our lives? Let me share with you some thoughts I read in a devotional a few days ago.
When we see the brilliant red leaves glistening in the sun, remember that the color red brings up thoughts of passion. Couldn’t we all do with more passion in our daily Christian walk? We need to reflect the brilliance of Christ and the passion with which He did what He was born to do.
Orange is a popular fall color at my house! We see it not only in the leaves but in the pumpkins we use for decorating. Orange reflects warmth and symbolizes thoughtfulness and sincerity. Shouldn’t we be warm, inviting people who care about others?
Yellow is a happy fall color which speaks of joy and cheerfulness. If we aren’t cheerful as Christians, why would people want what we have? Joy should be in our hearts and reflect through us.
Another color of fall is purple, the color of royalty. As Christians we are royalty in Christ.
The browns we see in the fall make all the other colors brighter and more brilliant. Brown represents stability and anchors all the other fall colors. In Christ we have our anchor. If we are living for Him and depending on Him, it will show in our actions and behavior.
As Americans the colors red, white and blue are representative of our country, our flag and bring feelings of patriotism. As Christians our symbolic colors should also matter to us. When we see these rich fall colors, let’s remember what they represent – passion, warmth, joy, royalty, stability – and be sure our lives reflect these qualities.
Ya’ll have an outstanding October. Enjoy this beautiful season and its special treats (candy corn, pumpkin cake rolls and caramel popcorn balls) and, as always, remember to ...KEEP SINGING!
