    Sherry's Song

June brings a different sight & sound that no other month can give. The sight of Seniors tossing their caps in the air & the sound of a couple of hundred students & proud families shouting for joy that all their hard work has finally paid off. Congratulations & best wishes to all Graduates!

June also means that half the year is gone. I am already hearing people say that Christmas will be here before you know it! Yes, it will, if the second half of the year goes by as quickly as the first half. So, let’s see what will the choir sing for Christmas? I had better get busy!

Okay, hold up here a minute, it is still June and we have four Sundays in this month to worship and praise our Lord together. One of those Sundays will be to give tribute to our earthly fathers. While remembering our fathers on Father’s Day, let us not forget our always faithful, always loving Heavenly Father. He is the one who never disappoints, loves us unconditionally and is always ready to forgive.

I would like to encourage each of you to come spend some time in the sanctuary of our Father God. Let us come together with our brothers & sisters in Christ, as children of the Almighty God and give Him glory, honor and praise! Just think, we are joint heirs to the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ who shed His life blood, died and rose from the dead so that we can share with Him in OUR Father’s kingdom!! Now, that is certainly something to be thankful for and most certainly to celebrate!

I pray each of you will have a wonderful June filled with the wonderful sights and glorious sounds that our Father has so graciously provided for our enjoyment. Until we meet again…Keep On Singing! J

The Pastor's Pen

Welcome to June, Summertime! Summer months are perceived to be the slow months during the Church year. People are on vacation; attendance drops off, yet so many things to do. I want to remind you of some things that continue during the summer at Church, some important events that happen during the summer months.

First is Vacation Bible School. VBS is the best evangelistic opportunity we have as a Church. This is the best time all year to reach children with the gospel, to tell them about Jesus. A lot of Churches have more children in VBS than they have the entire year in SS. What a great opportunity to share God’s Love.

This year we are having a Weekend Bible School, a One Day VBS on Saturday, June 23rd, from 9 am to 3 pm. (I know, we’ve never done it that way before!) The Theme is Rocky Point Lighthouse – “Where Kids Shine God’s Light.” We are praying for 100 children. That means we need at least 20 “crew leaders” (workers) to work with the children, as well as Bible Teachers, Music leaders & Crafts. Even the crafts are done with a purpose, they’re not for us to keep, but give them away, sending them on a Mission trip. I’m getting excited about what God is going to do this summer.

Pray for the Nominating Committee also, as it meets this summer to prepare a slate of Officers & Teachers for the upcoming year. The Church works according to those in leadership positions & serving on committees. Where is God calling you to serve?

Summer! A very Busy Time. Enjoy the summer & your vacation, but remember to put God first!
