The Pastor’s Pen!!!
2011, think about it. This could be the year that Jesus returns. That would be Awesome! Please Lord Jesus, come & take Your Children & Your Church Home, home to live with You forever. No more Sin, no more Sorrow, no more Suffering & no More Satan! Living with Jesus, Forever, I can hardly wait. But in the meantime, until He comes, we still have work to do.
At Trinity, we have changed our focus from just being religious to concentrating on our relationship with Jesus. Our Mission Statement is, “Saved by His Grace, Seeking His Face, Serving for His Glory.” As a church, & as individual Christians, we have moved from just being Saved by Grace to Seeking Him. We are Seeking a closer relationship with Jesus, on a daily basis.
Seeking a closer relationship with God led us into Knowing Him. You can Know God, Know you are Saved, & Know Him, in a deeper meaningful personal relationship. It’s more than just Believing, you can Know you are Saved, you have that “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine.” Knowing Him means you can Trust Him with anything & everything.
In 2011, we want to move even closer to Him. The Great Commandment is to Love God with all our heart, mind, soul & strength & our neighbors as ourselves. We want to Love Him even more because God is Love. We also want to Love Others more as we reach out to those around us that are not part of our family, yet.
Are you ready for Jesus to return?

Just a few weeks ago as I unpacked Christmas decorations, I was dismayed to find that I must not have been very careful when putting things away last year. Two of my favorite decorations came out of their boxes with broken parts. I had one of a set of snowmen missing his carrot nose and one of Santa’s reindeer with broken antlers (I did find the broken pieces). I couldn’t imagine decorating without these items so I brushed the tears away and headed to Bill’s workshop to find the super glue! My broken items are whole again and look as good as new. As I sat in the living room floor crying over my broken items, I was reminded that had it not been for a broken church organ, we might never have had one of our favorite Christmas hymns, “Silent Night.” Joseph Mohr had prepared a midnight service for Christmas eve but now he had no way to play the music he had planned. Joseph was led to write a new song that could be sung organless. He took the text to his organist, Franz Gruher, who wrote the melody we have come to love. It was first sung that Christmas eve of 1818 as a duet accompanied by a guitar. Joseph Mohr had beautifully learned that our problems are God’s opportunities. That’s an excellent thought to remember as we face the unscripted pages of a new year. Let’s not be afraid to allow God to use our brokenness, to “super glue” us back together with His love and make us whole and useful again.
My thanks to the choir for the beautiful Christmas music and their hard work and faithfulness all year. A special thanks to a great support staff who make our music come alive with their efforts. Good job, everyone! Take a deep breath and let’s keep on sharing the gospel in music in 2011!Happy New Year to each of you and remember - KEEP SINGING!

It’s great to know that as we begin another year we have another chance to get it right. I know how important this is for all of us because chances are we don’t often get it all right all the time. It is the grace of God that allows us to get chances again and again to get it right. It is at this time of the year, when we start over again, that I often think on how great this grace really is.
I am thankful not only for God’s grace, but also for your grace as a church as I wrap up my first year in youth ministry. You all have been supremely supportive as I try to figure this all out. I know that many of you pray for me and I hope that you continue to do so. It is only through God’s grace and your support that I can do youth ministry here at Trinity even a little bit right.
Coming up on the first weekend of February we will be partnering with another youth group to have a retreat at Eagle Eyrie. This is an overnight trip that will cost the students $50 each. In order to keep the cost at no more than $50 we need your help. The way that you can best help us is in donating money and food so that our student’s meals can be free. This will be done throughout the duration of January and more information as to what is needed will be announced on Sunday Morning. If you would pray with us for this retreat, it is our biggest event until the summer.
In Christ, Ethan
