The Pastor’s Pen!!!
2009 How Time Flies! I just got used to 2008, now it’s 2009. I hope you got everything accomplished you wanted to in 2008, because if you didn’t, it’s too late to go back and try again.
2009 could be the year Jesus comes back, or this could be the year God does something special. 2009 could be the year for us to Grow as a Church. We need to Grow, both spiritually as well as numerically. We need to Grow through Evangelism, telling people the Good News about Jesus, He’s the only way to be saved. We need to Grow through Exhortation, encouraging each other, especially those who are discouraged, or feel defeated. And we need to Grow through Edification, building each other & the Church up, rather than complaining or tearing down. That’s why it’s so important that we Grow in our Relationship with Jesus.
2009 is also the year for us to Go! When Jesus was born the shepherds said, let’s “Go & See,” but they had to “Go & Tell,” the Good News about Jesus. After Jesus died, the women came to the tomb & the angels told them “Come & See,” “He’s Not Here!” Then “Go & Tell” everybody that Jesus is Alive! One reason a lot of people don’t tell others about Jesus is because they don’t really care, someone should tell them about Jesus, but let someone else do it. Another reason is our priorities. Say what we may, seeing someone saved, or sharing Jesus, or even coming to Church, is not our top priority. Seeing just 1 person Saved could change all that.
In 2009, what are you going to do? Grow, or Go? We might Go Home, but we can’t just sit here & wait, there’s Work to Do!

How can I begin my first article for the New Year without first closing out the month of December with a huge "Thank You" to our faithful choir family and choir of Hunting Creek for two beautiful presentations of "A Night to Remember." A special "thanks" to the choirs of both churches for weeks of hard work. Another "thanks" to Carol Spencer for the extra rehearsals with me on the cantata and the additional pieces we played.
Thanks to the soloists from Hunting Creek, Ray Tolley & Erica Burnett, and our own Zachary Williams and to "Broken." A hearty "well done" to each of you! My special thanks to Ginger for being willing to undertake this joint venture with us. Thank you for putting all the pieces together into a beautiful program and for the directing. As usual many people worked behind the scenes to make it all work smoothly -- at the sound system, in the booth, printing bulletins, moving furniture. In other words, "thanks" to everyone who helped make "A Night to Remember" a beautiful reminder of why we celebrate Christmas.
Now back to 2009 -- a clean slate, an open book. I look forward to filling those pages with new memories and new music as the choir and I continue to prepare for weekly worship services to praise our Lord. Come and join us -- extra seats are always available!

WOW! 2008 has been a good year for Sunday School! But I am so excited about this upcoming year. Just imagine what God has in store for us in 2009 as we dig deeper into His Word.
First of all, I would like to Thank All the Teachers and Workers for the Great Job each of them did in 2008. Pray for our SS Teachers as they strive to faithfully teach the Bible each week, to do what God has called them to do. Friend Day in October was a big success, we had 19 new members for SS and attendance is slowly increasing.
We have a Nursery, Preschool and an older children’s class, 2 High School and a Singles & Seniors class for the Youth, and four Adult classes in SS. Two of the Adult Classes, the Young Adults and the Senior Men’s classes have an in-depth Bible Study time, taking their lessons straight from the Scriptures. The other two Adult classes, the New Beginnings and the Friendship Class (Senior Women) use the Life Words literature from Lifeway.
Each month in 2009, we want to focus on our SS Classes. A different SS Class will be featured each month on the Bulletin Board, complete with pictures and quotes. Each class, and every person, is encouraged to think of new prospects and new members for SS, with everybody inviting someone to “Come to SS.” I would like to see two new SS classes to reach new people started this year. If God is calling you to start a new Bible Study, just let me know.
Again, Thank You! I am looking forward to a great year in 2009.
“Come, Join us for SS!”
