The Pastor’s Pen!!!

"Soon & Very Soon, we are Going to see the King." Are you Ready?

2,000 years ago the Son of God entered Jerusalem riding upon a donkey, not like the world expected the Savior of the world to do, He was supposed to set up His Kingdom & overthrow the government, or so they thought. Jesus entered Jerusalem not as their view of a God, offering Salvation to all who believe, with crowds shouting, "Hosanna," Save us, O God. Let's take a look at the Final Week of His Life.

On Monday, Jesus returned to the Temple Cursing the fig tree because it bore no fruit & Cleansing the Temple because they hade made it a den of thieves, not a House of Prayer. On Tuesday, The Pharisees question His authority as Jesus teaches about the Kingdom of God. On Wednesday, He is Anointed at Bethany in preparation for His burial & Judas agrees to betray Him.

On Thursday, Jesus celebrates the Jewish Passover with His disciples, re-instituting it as the Last Supper. Afterwards, they go out into the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prays, "not My Will, but Thine be Done!" He is Betrayed, Arrested, & taken before the Jewish High Council, where He is Condemned to Death.

Early Friday morning, Jesus is taken before Pilate where He is Tried, Beaten & Condemned to Death on the Cross. Jesus is Crucified on the Cross at Calvary from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM, when He dies. Jesus Died on the Old Rugged Cross because of our Sins, mine & yours. "He who knew no Sin became Sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God." (2 Cor. 5:21)

Saturday is quiet as the Jews observe their Sabbath, but Sunday, Up From the Grave He Arose! The Grave is Empty, He is Not Here, for He is Risen. That's what Easter's All About!

Carol's Notes

HAPPY SPRING! What a beautiful time of year this is. It is so exciting to see the earth come back to life after its winter respite. How fitting it is that as the earth is reborn in the spring that we also celebrate the death & resurrection of our Lord which made it possible for us to be reborn into eternal life with Him. This has just got to be my favorite time of year.

This is one of those busy times of year for the Choir. Seems like at Easter & Christmas we just want to do a little something extra in celebration of these special life-changing events in the Christian faith. I would encourage you to be here on Palm Sunday (don't forget that is also Friends Day) & Easter Sunday. On Palm Sunday we've got two former members coming back to share in the music. No, I'm not going to tell you who they are - just be here to worship & enjoy! Easter Sunday will be extremely busy with a Sunrise Service & two morning worship services. Our own Rick Dellinger will be singing at the Sunrise Service, Broken at the 8:30 service & several anthems from the Choir for the 11:00 service. Please plan to attend these special services & bring your friends & family.

Please pray for Broken as we prepare to sing at revival services at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on Monday, April 6th & Flint Hill Baptist Church on Monday, April 20th, both at 7:00 pm. Come & go with us!

Also, just want to remind you of the Scholarship Benefit Sing on Friday night, April 17th. This has become a yearly tradition & one of our primary fund-raising events for the scholarship program for our Trinity youth. A big thanks to Jake Barger for enlisting lots of local talent to participate in what should be a night of great music & fellowship. Ya'll come &, oh yeah, bring your wallets!!

Thank you for your continued words of encouragement & support regarding the music ministry. It's still a work in progress & hopefully it will always be as we continue to seek new music & new methods to musically bring to life the "Good News" of our Lord.

Remember, "life is not measure by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away". Look for these moments each day & particularly this time of year as we witness the renewal of life all around us.
